Every step of the project is fully documented in our project management system in compliance with the GDPR – starting with the selection of the right translators and proof-readers right through to the delivery and archiving of the finished translations. This ensures that any queries can be addressed quickly and systematically.
Project preparation
Each translation order is assigned to a suitable team (translator and proof-reader). We thereby take into account the project-specific requirements (target group, subject area, language combination, etc.) and the qualifications of the translators and proof-readers.
At the same time, we make all the necessary technical preparations to be able to fully comply with the exacting quality standards defined by RecogSense®.
3-stage quality check
Translation / quality check # 1
To ensure high quality translations, the translator carries out an initial quality check before forwarding their translation to the proof-reader. Here, the translator checks the following points:
- Compliance with any terminology provided by the client
- Semantic accuracy and lexical cohesion of the translation
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks and other orthographical conventions of the target language
- Compliance with any style guides provided by or developed together with the customer
- Suitability of the translation for the target group and the purpose stated by the customer
- Consideration of cultural specificities & (when translating websites and online texts) search patterns of the respective target group
Revision by a second translator / quality check # 2 (four-eyes principle)
The text revision required by ISO 17100 goes beyond mere proofreading of the text. The revision process involves comparing the translation with the source text (original text) as well as checking and, if necessary, correcting the translation according to the following aspects:
- Consistency (compared to the original) regarding content, comprehensibility, and completeness
- Compliance with any terminology provided by the customer
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks and other orthographical conventions of the target language
- Consistent and uniform wording and spelling throughout
- Suitability of the translation for the target group and the stated purpose (informative, descriptive, narrative, explicative, argumentative): correct choice of words, appropriate style
Verification and approval from the project manager / quality check # 3
Before submitting the translation to the client, the project manager checks the following points and clarifies any discrepancies or ambiguities with the translator and/or proof-reader:
- Completeness of the translation
- Compliance with the project specifications (style, terminology, consistency, etc.)
- QA check using a special tool (spelling, numbers, terminology, etc.)
- Correct formatting
